We all have smartphones and use apps, but have you ever wondered what they are like? Why are updates coming? And why everything in an app is important? Let’s talk about what it is first. Mobile app development is the process of making software for smartphones, tablets, and digital assistants, mostly for Android and iOS operating systems.
Android and iOS are the leading names of the smartphone age. As you know, iOS is Apple ‘s, but Android was created by Google .
“In my opinion, the future of mobile is the future of everything.” – Matt Galligan, Co-founder of Circa
Options
When we’re developing mobile software, we have different options. There are lots of different ways to create mobile apps. First there is native, meaning they run on one platform only. Second there are cross-platform, meaning they can run on different platforms. And third hybrid, which means they use some native features and some web app features.
And some are progressive web apps, which are basically web apps that get better over time.
Developers consider the pros and cons of each method. They think about the app’s intended use, the processing power it needs, the native features required, the development cost, the time it will take to build, and the resources available for maintaining the app.

The Mobile Application Development Lifecycle
There are two main parts to a mobile app: the front end, which is the app you see on your phone, and the back end, which is the part that supports it.
The device usually installs the front end, or at the very least, places an icon for it in the program catalog or on the home screen. You can also download it from the app store.
The back end usually uses a range of application programming interfaces (APIs) to access these back-end services. There are loads of different kinds of APIs, including GraphQL Foundation and REST, as well as several ways to access them.
There are a few things that are the same in every application, like signing up, turning on notifications, and signing a contract if there is one.
In Data Services, you’ve got cloud storage, real-time and offline data application logic/cloud functions.
In Machine Learning, you’ve got conversational bots, image and video recognition, and speech recognition.
Statista reports that the global AI and ML industry is expected to exceed $126 billion in value by 2025, demonstrating that AI and ML will shape the future of mobile app development.
So, in a nutshell, mobile app development takes ideas and makes them into apps you can use every day. There are loads of different ways of doing this, like native, cross-platform, hybrid, and progressive web apps. The developers make sure that the apps are still working properly, safe, and innovative, so that we can keep getting better digital experiences.
